Dear friends,

As you might be aware, Storm Nargis wrecked havoc in the Southern areas of Myanmar , particularly the delta area,
on 3 rd May. As per government and other sources available to us there are more than 78,000 people dead, 56,000 missing and over 19,000 injured. Apart from that, at least 1.5 million people are displaced with no food, drinking water and shelter. Vast areas of the delta region were under water from the storm surge and it has washed away homes, food stocks and livelihoods. Conditions in the low-lying Irrawaddy Delta remained precarious, with survivors facing disease, malnutrition and exposure to the elements.

The Myanmar Government as well as UN and other INGOs are working hard to bring relief to the affected people but the scale of the devastation is enormous and all help they can get will be life saving.

We at Mega are working locally to support the agencies involved with essential supplies. We have been mobilizing basic medicine to some areas where there is immediate need of medical treatment. We are supporting displaced people in accessible areas with clothes and food. We have organized donation of 24,000 ltrs of bottled drinking water to the relief agencies operating in the Irrawaddy delta. We have also donated some medicines & basic hygiene products to the Yangon General Hospital / UNFPA / UNDP.

We are not a charity group but we are well structured as an entity with the ability to provide relief efforts to those in needs in Myanmar . We commit that all funds raised will be deployed directly to relief operations and that we would do our best to ensure that the money is spent in a manner that provides the most benefit to those affected.
